Playing music in lightness and synergy
|
|
1982 the soprano Ruth Juon meets the concert-pianist Eugen Cicero. A very intensive and prolific time of making music together, trying out, responding to each other and diving into the miracle of the musical present follows. The poetic lyrical ballads from the Great American Songbook which they particularly love become an important part of their repertoire.
Today, looking back on the gradually generated recordings, the common grounds of both artists which have united them for many years, now become clear. Both ran through the classical education on their instrument. Both have a great love for rhythm, swing, jazz, the free phrasing and improvisation. Both are keen to create: they unite elements from the classical music and jazz with their soul and melt it to their unmistakable unique stile. They are looking for the truth on which all is based on, that opens a spiritual dimension to their artistic work.
Ruth Juon honours Eugen Cicero's pianistic genius. Eugen Cicero loves Ruth Juon's beautiful refined voice which never loses it's way.
They are able to link their musical threads in a most ideal way. Inspiration bounces like a feathered ball back and forth between both artists. Both lead and both serve. This phenomen is called synergy.
